I recently have been trying an experiment of sorts that I heard about from a great sound healer, Cyndi Krupp. It’s called “The Mirror” and I find it to be an easy, fun, and informative exercise.
The experiment is:
Everything you see is a mirror of what you are holding inside.
Everything you feel, see, experience – and all the people you interacted with – are playing out in your life just for you to benefit and learn from.
To do this is simple and it’s also a great tool to get you back into your body and into the present moment.
For instance, imagine you see an eagle flying outside and you admire how gracefully it soars around. Using “The Mirror” instructions, you turn that feeling on to yourself, and genuinely feel gratitude for how you are showing grace in your own life. Your graceful energy brought that eagle into your view.
See how easy this is?
If you’re in a rainstorm, you feel gratitude for the rain because like the rain, you’re also letting go and clearing some held up emotions you have inside you.
It’s about making the connection that you, all that you see around you, and all the lives you touch each day, are not separate from you. Everything is connected and everything you are experiencing on the “inside” of you is reflecting out into your reality.
You will soon be feeling more gratitude. And with gratitude comes more joy, and when you feel more joy inside that will also be reflected into your life.
So what about the annoying, human-ness of life? What about days when you’re not feeling so cheery inside? We know we don’t want that reflected back in our lives.
Just the fact that you can step out of yourself and realize you don’t want to feel that way is a step in the right direction. Being aware that you have something going on inside of you that needs to be healed will let the healing get started.
While doing this experiment, the fence fell down in our backyard. Just blew right over in the wind! Blah. And I thought, how is this a mirror of something inside me? I could not for the life of me think of something other than maybe I’m tired out like that fence. Ha. Kidding aside, sometimes things just break when they’re old! Doesn’t mean the experiment can’t apply.
Using “The Mirror”, I took note of my reaction to the situation. Since I know that my vibration and my energy creates my physical life, I don’t want to get wrapped up in frustration, annoyance, and worrying about money. I don’t want that mirrored back to me.
Awareness is key.
How can I look at it differently? I simply allow myself to feel the annoyance in the moment, recognize I’m in a human body, then – this is important to do so as not to get stuck – remember and feel – that I’m not only human. I am light and energy first and foremost. By being in the present moment either through breath work, or meditation, or whatever it is that gets you back to center, peace or transformation can then occur.
When we’re in alignment with our higher self and our soul, then we are in the ideal space for the Universe to mirror back to us what we really want and all the abundance that we deserve.
“The Mirror” might bring up tough insights, such as “what’s going on inside me that I’m putting up with a terrible boss?” It’s important not to get into a vibration of blame or negativity. The key to the experiment is getting real with yourself. Not denying stuck emotions you may have, but instead simply acknowledging them. It will likely bring wounds to the surface to be healed.
Things break, bodies can wear out, the outside world can seem chaotic, but these are all human traits. Remembering and consciously connecting to the energy we come from, and are made up of, is so important. It truly sets the tone for everyday life.
I like “The Mirror” because it invites you to come from a place of gratitude and appreciation for yourself. It also makes you accountable and honest with yourself. Is your inner chatter or outlook on life holding you back and creating drama? Fine – now what can be done to heal and turn it around? Or – is it working with you to create abundance and joy?
I hope you try out this experiment for a few days and maybe it’ll turn into a habit like it has for me.
In gratitude,
Nicki
