The Power of Eight

Lynne McTaggart is a well known author specializing in books on energy, quantum physics, and the power of intention – with an emphasis on scientific research.  Her book The Field opened my eyes to the world of energy, and it was a bit of a life changing read for me years ago.  (more on that another day).  For today I’m focusing on her latest book, The Power Of Eight.  For a great overview and explanation from the author herself, I recommend you listen to this Podcast, where she is interviewed by Roberta Grimes: (dated 11/5/2017)

Or you can listen to it online

Rather than going into my own recap, it’s best to let Lynn explain how the idea of the Power Of Eight came into her life, as well as the proven and powerful results she’s documented. I love Podcasts because you can download them and listen in the car, or like me, while you’re shoveling the driveway!

What is The Power of Eight?

It is the ability of eight people (or a bit more or less) to sit together with the same intention – to send healing to a person – and the healing that then occurs.  It’s about how the Universe and energy responds to our group focus.  We are powerful energetic beings, and when we consciously choose to sit together, with a specific intention for a period of time, we can help one another to heal.  It’s that simple.

I had the opportunity to sit in a Power of Eight healing session about a month ago.  A friend organized a group of people to get together at her home one evening, and focus on sending love and light and healing to her young daughter.  (I won’t go into details about her daughter since it’s not my story to tell). What I felt in myself and in the room was very tangible, subtle, high vibrational energy.  It was similar to what I tap into during a deep mediation or during a one-on-one healing session, yet also different in that it felt a bit more expansive and emotional since there were so many other people in the room.

I left the evening feeling very happy about being a channel for healing energy, and also very peaceful and centered – almost as if I had received a healing as well.  This effect on the sitter (the person sending healing) is talked about in McTaggart’s book. She discovered that during a Power of Eight healing session, both the person being focused on, as well as the people actually sitting in the circle, often had miraculous healings.  When we focus on sending healing to others, we often heal in our own way as well.  Why is this?  Because we are all connected.  And when we set the intention to send someone loving energy, that energy will also surround us.  When we focus on healing others, we too feel the benefits.  After volunteering for an afternoon, you notice how great you feel.  Your energy has shifted because you surrounded yourself with the energy of giving and helping.   It’s the same as when we hold hateful thoughts or feelings towards someone, we end up feeling terrible.

What if you don’t consider yourself a “healer”?  Can you still produce healing results with The Power of Eight?

Of course.  We are all healers in our own way.  We are co-creators.  Quantum physics proves that intention, through our minds and consciousness, creates our reality.  So if eight random people off the street decide to sit in a circle, clear their minds to bring in the highest good, and set the intention to heal a specific person – change and healing can happen.  It’s about getting out of our own way.  Calming the chatter in our brain, and instead tapping into the deeper level of intention and pure possibility. This is something anyone can do.

One final thing I want to note is you can be as spiritual about this as you’d like, or as religious as you’d like, or neither.  You could just believe in “something” bigger than yourself.  Because I’m a spiritual person,  I chose to call in specific angels to work with us at the healing circle, as well as my Spirit Guides.  And I certainly could feel their presence.  It’s my experience that healing, manifesting, and life changes occur when we are open to higher vibrational energies of light, such as angels and guides.  Yet people experience and might label these energies in their own interpretation.

So one person in your group of eight might be calling on God, another on the Universe, another on the Field, and another on their Divine Self.  Everyone can “tap into” energy in their own way.  If you’re not sure, just set your intention for the highest good, and simply state “I surrender.”  What’s important is feeling the energy inside of you and letting it flow through you and out to the person you’re focusing on.  Getting too caught up in the details can allow your brain to get in the way of what should be a relaxing and energizing experience for everyone.

So do you know of someone who needs some healing?  Or some motivated change in their life?  If they are open to it, why not organize a group of eight to sit together for an hour and focus on sending them love and healing energy?  The person being focused on does not need to be in the room even – a picture of them can also work.  Energy is energy and distance healing works just as well as an in-person healing.  Or maybe get a group of people together to send healing to a large group of people, or a country, or a group of animals.  The potential is limitless.  I would love to hear about your experiences if you do this!

Here is a link to the book as well.
